- One of the main things i have learned is to sort of keep the magazine simple, such as the logo. By keeping the logo the same the audience will always remember it and that will allow the magazine to sell more.
- Using main and bold words to attract the audiences attention, like little hints of what is in the magazine. The word have to be interesting for them to be attracted by them.
- The main image is always big and covers around about 90% of the page, making it very eye catching to the audience, and if it is aimed at a target audience then the picture will make them what to purchase the magazine.
- Having an importing selling line is always a good thing to have for example " The best playlists and album charts FOR YOU", making the targeted audience wont to see the playlists and albums. This is also making the magazine interesting.
- Using either a close up shot or a medium shot of the person on the front cover, giving them some sort of dominates over other people and that they are the focal key of the magazine. This could also help link is with the cover lines because we can see his/hers facial expression. For example if the person in the shot is angry and the cover line said "John is MAD all the time" this is linking in with the picture.

Magazine Analysis (Q magazine)
Q magazine is simply put together because they've used the same logo they always have making it recognizable to the audience and making it plain and simple, however there are more cover lines on this front cover, making it seem like it has a load of information in it. The main image is like most other Band image's because the lead singer/performer is center of the magazine making him the first thing we focus on, The other band members in the back ground making them less of and importance. But this have some contribute to the magazine.Q magazine have also used a certain colour like red for example to highlight key words, grabbing the audiences attention and wanting them to read more.

College Magazine
In this blog i will be analysing a amateur front cover of a collage magazine promoting their collage.
- The layout of the magazine is simple and also eye catching. The colour schemes that have been used for the production of this magazine is an example of what i inspire my own to look like. i would like to have the editing and skills to produce a magazine at this potential
- The main image is dominating the front cover, The model or student used for the main image has been protrade in a medium shot, its is also shot in a high key lighting connoting that the college is happy and a safe place to be.. The fact that he is holding books is showing us that he is studying. However, it also suggests that the collage mainly focuses on subjects like Law, business and society. The front cover is defying the stereotypical view of collage students. They aren't the 'geeky' or 'dorky' hard working students anymore, they're more trendy and fashionable type as well as hardworking that is represented on the front cover.
- The masthead has been used in a dramatic way. It is a bright and eye catching colour. But it is positioned behind the student or model. The reason most magazines use this technique is because they are showing their magazine should be recognised.
- College lifestyle is identifying with the customer, identifying with the customer is a big aspect to the front cover because it is showing the audience that the college is more than just a place to learn. The students would relate to it and would be more attracted to buy the magazine. The cover line that are seen are seen around the magazine are layered on top of the student or model, unlike the masthead. This effects should make the customers now what the magazine is even though the masthead is place behind the model/student.
- The cover lines used are ways in which a magazine will target an audience. For example "make money on campus". The reason i think this identifies and targets the audience is because students are known as having less money and the magazine is not only entertaining students but also helping them to make money, this would commonly attract the younger students. "Why we love blackberry" is another cover line that identifies with the audience. This is because mobile phones are the most common form of communication that the younger generation are using, they would be interested in this and blackberry's are one of the most popular phones.

Cohens Moral Panic
Cohens Moral Panic
Folk Devils - Folk devil is a person or group of people who are portrayed in folklore or the media as outsiders and deviant, and who are blamed for crimes or other sorts of social problems.
The Folk Devils i will be looking at are only situated in the music industry, for example 'Wiz Khalifa'. Wiz Khalifa as a well known artist with in the music industry and he is known for his rap, he has brought out many songs and they've been big hit. However, he is a really aggressive Mariana smoker, he has videos on YouTube where he is smoking and a lot of the time he abuses the drug. The drug is ilegal and not for use but uses it almost everyday. He is not and inspiration to look up to for young children because parents or carers wouldn't like their child smoking or even attempting the drug. There are hundreds of pictures of him smoking it and here is and example,
The reason why I think that he shouldn't be on the front cover is because of his fans. His fans could be motivated by him to do the same thing. This gives the wrong impression to his crowd and could cause numerous problems.
Here is on of the examples on Cohans moral panic. This video on on YouTube an is not age restricted therefor it being a bad impression on younger fans.

FEMINISM
Feminism - the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.
The issue of rights for women first became prominent during the French and American revolutions in the late 18th century. In Britain it was not until the emergence of the suffragette movement in the late 19th century that there was significant political change. A ‘second wave’ of feminism arose in the 1960s.
The Magazine focuses mainly on music. Each issue of the Magazine contains a new front cover, the front cover only contains a picture that is relevant to the image on the front. The Women on the front cover of the Magazine is Katy Perry. On recent magazines there are a lot off women, mainly to catch the target audiences eye, which is a male audience. However, this my seem bad because to other females because its making them out to be disrespectful of themselves.
After this feminism gradually grew and changed the way woman were represented in terms of their appearance, women started to change in the eye of the public view.
Katy Perry, she's always got a different style of clothing on every photo shoot she does, whether that be a modelling photo or a magazine cover photo. With her wearing different clothing on each front cover is providing the targeted audience with what they expect from the magazine and what she had made her self out to be, this is also good for the magazine as it allows it to sell more. In reference to Laura Mulvey's male gaze, in this photo of her she's showing a lot of skin and not wearing a lot of clothes. A lot of men will find her attractive and will view her as something to look at in reference to their own personal objectification. Women will buy the magazine to read about her, and to try and identify themselves to her, maybe to copy her style. This also relates to the feminist thoery on the males, the males with gaze upon her. Most women wont men to take notice in them so Katy Perry is a role model.

New Musical Express
New Musical Express also know as NME is one of the most eye catching and most popular magazine within Britain. The creator of the music magazine was known as Theodor Smythson. Around early march in 1952 the magazine was released on a weekly bases, however back then the New Musical Express was published in newspaper form, as time went on the 'newspaper' soon later became the NME magazine. NME was the first British music magazine to include not only a music chat but their own music chart, the music chart would be aimed at their targeted audience, what the magazine would think their audience like to listen to. With that addition included in the magazine NME became one of the best selling music newspapers in the UK.
NME was one of the best and leading musical news papers, in the 60s bands where becoming huge and more well know, NME grabbed this as an opportunity and began to support massive bands such ass; The Beatles and The rolling Stones. Because The Beatles and The Rolling Stones where a big hit in the 60s they often featured on the front cover on the news paper which gained them NME more of a popularity and made a bigger company. NME where coming bigger and bigger by the day and because they were, they began to have rivalry with other music papers, for example "Melody Maker" . But, this didn't NME as the sales where on of the best in Britain, selling papers at the heights of 200,000 issues per week.
When the 70s hit NME, they found themselves loosing out on sales and no longer having the lead. However, the early rivalry's "Melody Maker" had taken over them, this was all because NME had lost the power to make rock interesting to the audience and people resorted to Melody Maker. Later that year Alan Smith was made main Editor and had been given a short period of time to turn things around, making NME be the way they was in the 60s. Alan smith added his own theme to the newspaper as he wanted to make it funnier and more hipper. By doing so he would be grabbing the audiences attention, wanting them to read more from NME.
On the 21st of March 1998, The articals had no longer been printed on newsprint, they had shifted it to magazine style leaving the magazine more colourful and eye catching to the public. As time went on magazines started to close and be cancelled. NME's early rivals (Melody Maker) had be shut down because of the sales market shrinking, NME merged the companies together and not long after the merge, the audience thought NME would close down. But they never. They had mad a huge come back and still of the best selling magazines.
