Magazine Terminology

Headline-This is the title of the main story in the magazine located somewhere on the front page.
House style-The house style is the distinctive designs and layouts that make your magazine different from others.
Sell Line-The sell line is text placed on the front of the magazine used to help sell the magazine.
Anchorage Text-This is were text is used to display the meaning of an image on the front cover.
Strap Line-Phrase that is recognized to be related to the magazine.
Copy-Copy is the main text that is in the magazine.
Drop Capitals-A drop capital is a larger capital letter that begins a magazine article.
Puffs-Puffs are colorful boxes that promotes articles in the magazine.
Lead-A lead is a short introduction to an article.
Pugs-are also known as the ears of the magazine located at the top left and right of the magazine normally the magazine logo/Name and the magazines price.
Caption-A caption is a description of an image on the front page.
Banner-The banner is text that stands out because it is on a colored background.
Buzz Words-Buzz words are words used to help sell the magazine such  as wow, great and exclusive.
Masthead-The name of the magazine.
Slogan-A slogan is a motto or saying used in the magazine often.
